Purification Schedule
Parasites are purified on a regular schedule to ensure freshness of the product.   Giardia lamblia cysts are collected and purified daily.   Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts are purified approximately every one to two months.   Our continuous production of these two parasites allows us to provide fresh organisms promptly.  

Microsporidial spores, Giardia muris , and Cryptosporidium muris are purified on a less frequent basis, or as needed.   A lead-time of one to two weeks is sometimes necessary when ordering these three organisms.

Purity
All preparations are guaranteed to be 95% - 99% purified.   Each organism is purified by sucrose and percoll gradients and water washes, as needed.   Each suspension is then viewed microscopically for contamination.

Storage Solution
All organisms can be purchased suspended in a phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with antibiotics and 0.01% Tween 20, or suspended in 5% formalin with 0.01% Tween 20.   We can also prepare a specific solution, as requested by the customer.
