AccuSpike™-IR
AccuSpike™-IR has obtained US EPA approval for use in Methods 1622 and 1623.
AccuSpike™-IR is a new product of Waterborne™, Inc., designed for use as the spiking suspension in Methods 1622 and 1623 for the determination of percent recovery in Initial Precision and Recovery (IPR), Ongoing Precision and Recovery (OPR), and Matrix Spike (MS) tests. Each 1.5 mL polypropylene vial of AccuSpike™-IR contains 100 flow cytometry sorted Giardia lamblia
cysts and Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts, suspended in 0.75 mL of reagent water with 0.01% Tween 20, that have been inactivated and preserved.
The internal structures of the cysts and oocysts are completely intact and easily identified. The cells are fully reactive with antibody-coated immunomagnetic particles and
fluorescent antibodies.
Inactivation by Irradiation:
AccuSpike™-IR is a non-hazardous, non-infectious product. Although the organisms exhibit signs of viability (e.g., propidium iodide exclusion, excystability), they have been proven to be non-infectious for animal models. Each preparation has a shelf life of 12 weeks after production. The vials are shipped in small, crush-resistant, plastic clamshell boxes.
